Gloucestershire Fire and Rescue Service has been supplied with Search and Rescue drysuits and associated safety equipment from Hammond Drysuits in a record time of just 11 days.
“Every drysuit we make is made to order as we do not hold stock items,” comments Richard Dell sales director for Hammond. “Having met during the Fire Times Roadshow in Sheffield, we travelled to Gloucester to measure the individuals before going back to Dartford to start on the production. 11 days may seem ample time for some companies, but when every part of the suit is custom, it’s quite tight. We did it though.”
The SR140R drysuit, is the search and rescue drysuit from Hammond used by blue light services and swiftwater rescue crews across the UK. The drysuit is made of a robust trilaminate nylon, built to withstand the harshest of environments, with single and stitched hand taped seams for a lasting watertight seal. The drysuit is Made-to-Measure for maximum comfort, this means physical measurements are taken and the suit is made for a specific person, providing room for layers and ample movement. A choice of latex seals, braces, Bekina safety boots and front or rear entry zips are all options. The suits are available in a variety of colours and can include reflectors, names and fleet badges to further personalise the suit.
Kevin Adcock, Research and Development Manager for Gloucestershire Fire and Rescue comments: “My sincere thanks for all your efforts in supplying our new trainees with some of the finest kit I’ve seen in a long time. I set you a real challenge and you came up trumps, going above and beyond to make sure the deadline was met.”
